Product DescriptionNow Briggs begins an extraordinary new series set in Mercy Thompson’s world—but with rules of its own.

INTRODUCING THE ALPHA AND OMEGA NOVELS...

Anna never knew werewolves existed until the night she survived a violent attack…and became one herself. After three years at the bottom of the pack, she’d learned to keep her head down and never, ever trust dominant males. But Anna is that rarest kind of werewolf: an Omega. And one of the most powerful werewolves in the country will recognize her value as a pack member—and as his mate.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Not really book one....
Although listed as book 1 in this series, Cry Wolf is not really the start: there's a prequel in an anthology, which I learned after taking the novel home. For those who know to hunt down the other book to read first, Cry Wolf is probably a good read. However, for the casual reader who plucked it off the shelf it is confusing and irritating; there's no attempt at back story, constant allusions to a previous series of events and a host of completely unintroduced characters and events that the reader ... Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - ... Huh?
`Cry Wolf' is apparently a novel based off of a short story. This is apparent because as soon as you start reading you start playing catch-up, trying to figure out what happened in the last book, because this one assumes you've read the first one. I seriously recommend you read "On the Prowl' before you purchase this book, it will help a lot. Though the author does sparsely inject bits about the previous story into the plot and makes an attempt to fill you in, it doesn't cover everything. Even without ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Couldn't put it down!
When I picked up Cry Wolf I admit I was skeptical because of the sultry woman on the cover. But soon I was caught in the pages, staying up until 4am to finish it! Good storyline, believable world and characters. I can't wait for the next one!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Pleased to see another good series from Briggs
I'm a fan of the Mercy Thompson series, so I already had some background understanding as this new series takes place in the same universe. Taking the advice of another reviewer, I did first read Briggs' short story in the On the Prowl anthology which introduces the characters, and I'm glad I did as the story explained how Charles and Anna met. If reprints are made of this particular book in the future, I hope Briggs will include the story in the book.

Although explained what made an Omega ... Read More

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - 2.5 stars. Ok, but not a hit. The last half was too drawn out. The beginning was missing.
STORY BRIEF:
Anna was turned into a werewolf three years earlier by a member of Leo's pack. Leo was the alpha leader of the Chicago area pack. He ordered his pack members to rape and beat Anna for three years until his death. Bran was the leader of all werewolves in the US. When he learned about Leo, Bran sent Charles to kill Leo. Charles meets Anna and knows she is his mate. Anna and Charles leave Chicago and go to his home in Montana. Something evil is happening in the wilderness nearby. Bran ... Read More
