Product DescriptionFor sixteen centuries the Order of Pythia has awaited the reappearance of the ancient oracle of sacred knowledge at Delphi. An earthquake, rending the earth beneath the ruins, has now heralded her return. Dorian Belecamus, a beautiful and bewitching archaeology professor, sees an opportunity to do more than dig into the past: this is her chance to seize control of her country’s future—by becoming the Oracle of Delphi! And she’s found just the man to help her consummate her scheme. He’s brash, he’s reckless, and he’s fallen under her spell. His name: Indiana Jones.
Their adventure spans the globe from Chicago to Paris to Greece, where, bullwhip in hand, Indy descends into the bottomless pit of the serpent god and finds a sacred stone that holds the key to the oracle’s prophecies. But Dorian has designed an even more sinister fate for young Indy: she means to make him her lover, her priest, and her pawn in a plot to kill the king. Will Indy find the source of Pythia’s powers—or will he find himself sacrificed at Dorian’s altar, a victim of her deadly ambition and desire?

Average Rating:
Rating: - Not Bad
Overall not bad for an Indy book. The story's fine, but the writing not so much.
Rating: - Must Read!!!
A GREAT BOOK!!! The book starts with Indy graduating college! So its not boring like the young Indy CHronicals.
Rating: - Not A Bad Start
It's actually 2 1/2 stars, but Amazon doesn't offer 'half stars' in their ratings.
IJ&tPaD is a decent enough start to the Indy book series. Keep in mind, this was written pre-Young Indy, so the timeline is definitely off! Indy hasn't fought in WWI, has never been to Europe before, and is not studying to be an archaeologist.
That said, this is a fun, easy, surprisingly sexy thriller featuring an unseasoned Indy on yet another supernatural adventure. The Max McCoy books ... Read More
Rating: - It's not "Raiders"
"Raiders Of The Lost Ark" is my all-time favorite movie. It's what inspired me to pursue a career in television & film production and scriptwriting. So needless to say I had high hopes for this first in the series of Indiana Jones books.
Unfortunately, it's not the swashbuckling, action-packed adventure you would expect from the likes of Spielberg and Lucas. It reads more like those old Louis L'Amour westerns my mama made me read when I was laid up with a busted leg after my motorcycle ... Read More

"Indiana Jones and the Peril at Delphi" details the first adventure Indiana Jones ever faced - dealing with his college professor. Sounds like something we all had to deal with at some point in our lives, but I'd like to think our college professors didn't drag us to a foreign country to help in a plot to, essentially, take over the world. The three Indiana Jones movies "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark," "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom," and "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," showed ... Read More
