Rating: - Sharp, funny read
Jennifer Ball's second book, Catalyst, offers a funny and insightful look at the world of postgraduate chemistry, singing telegrams and life in New York city. Ball's poker-faced wit makes Shelby -- the singing telegram deliverer, Max -- her chemist husband and Hadley--their friend, sad, sweet and hilarious, as life in the Big Apple delivers one frustration after another. Rating: - Piqued curiosity, held my attention, left me satisfied
I thought it was
interesting that Rahda -certainly the villain by most any yardstick - was
presented in a fashion that made her a sympathetic character as well. This
was handled very delicately and made the whole thing more interesting and
realistic - multi dimensional and complex. I was left at the end, knowing
that the story was complete and satisfied, but still wishing there would be
more to read.... as an author I should think that that is just how you would
like to leave your readers. Great book!
