From the supplier: A study of price changes in restaurants in Illinois, Massachusetts, Ontario and Quebec in relation to changes in Mobil Travel Guide ratings revealed that price increases were more prevalent for restaurants that gained a Mobil star than for those whose rating were unchanged. An exception were Ontario restaurants, where those with unchanged Mobil ratings raised prices in similar proportion to those which gained a star. Restaurants which lost a star were also found to implement price changes that were not significantly different from 'unchanged' restaurants, except in Illinois where price hikes by these 'demoted' restaurants were smaller than unchanged ones.
