Amazon.comVeteran Christian band Newsong decided to include the sentimental ballad, 'Christmas Shoes,' as a bonus track on 2000's Sheltering Tree, unaware that the almost O. Henry-esque tale about a young boy attempting to buy a pair of shoes as a Christmas present for his dying mother would blow up into a massive hit. So overwhelming was the response to that song (it landed atop Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart) that the group decided to fashion an entire holiday album around it, naturally titling it Christmas Shoes. In addition to the heart-wrenching title track, the contemporary Christian rockers serve up some beautifully arranged versions of cherished favorites such as 'Away in the Manger/God Rest Ye, Merry Gentleman,' 'The First Noel,' and 'What Child Is This,' as well as an impish, rather histrionic version of 'You're a Mean One, Mr.Grinch' which should tickle the underage set. Newsong have also written a number of well-crafted, infectious holiday songs that don't bludgeon you with heavy-handed inspirational messages, but instead shine brightly with the true spirit of the holiday. --Jaan Uhelszki

This is an awesome Christmas cd. I bought it for the song Christmas shoes, about a little boy buying Christmas shoes for his dying mother. It is very touching and I enjoy the other songs as well. My favorite is

I have looked for at least a year and a half for the Christmas Shoes cd by New Song. When I would ask anyone they would look at me like I didn't know what I was talking about. I finally found the cd on Amazon.com and I am VERY satisfied and happy to have found it. :) I recommend anyone to shop Amazon especially for hard to find cd's.

Watch as this family grieves and continues their life after a Mother's loss. I hope you will be as deeply moved at this "real to life" movie that millions face every day, and hundreds, even at Christmas time!

I first heard the song "The Christmas Shoes" about two or three years ago and have loved it from the first time I heard it..
I looked all over for the single but could never find it. Then, one day, there was "The Christmas Shoes" on Amazon.com... Didn't wait and ordered (2) two copies right away.. One for my best friend "Tish" and one for myself.. Have been so very pleased with this purchase and have played it over and over again all through the Holiday Season... Thank You...
