Books Essential ASP.NET With Examples in C# (Microsoft .NET Development Series)

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Very disorganized - strongly dislike it
Recently there has been a decline in book quality as the rush to sell more and write faster increases and this book is a testament to this new trend.

The other disturbing fact here is that this book's rating on Amazon is at 4.5 stars and let me tell you, this book is not of that kind. Four and a half stars on Amazon used to mean classics, refer to Knuth's The Art of Computer Programming and Don Box's Essential COM, it is embarasing to bulk these together they are not even on the same rating system much less of same rating.

I could tell that this book was simply rushed to the market. It is completely disorganized, and in the intro it even says: read first two chapters then you can skip around. It sounds good, but makes no sense at all.

I am not some newby to web programming. I know most technologies from ASP to JSP, and have written ISAPI dlls.

The first chapter started off good, but then everything fell apart. There are moments of

I strongly dislike it.

-Disappointed

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - After reading this book, I finally got it!
I read quite a few other "for dummies" books, but I still didn't understand the magic behind the scenes. Well, this book contains all the answers, to take your ASP.NET development to the next level.

I laughed, I cried, I recommended.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - C# Programmers definite guide to ASP.NET
This is an excellent book for C# developers who want to jump into the world of ASP.NET. It helped me jump start into ASP.NET. The concepts are very clearly explained with examples in C#. This book one of the great resources for .NET development. The book assumes prior knowledge of C# as it dwelves into ASP.NET directly. Awesome book. Go for it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Simply the best ASP.NET with C# book
The author does a wonderful job of explaining in a very lucid manner how things work under the scenes and why they were made to work in that way.

This book is for intermediate-expert web developers developing in .NET

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A must for every serious .NET developer
This book has every reason to be seen on a serious web developer's bookshelf. The examples are well written with an intermediate to advanced developer in mind. Very well structured chapters. To customize things for people they've got a seperate version in VB.NET. This basically avoids pain of carrying unused pages around.

Other factors like the page, print and formatting qualities are a compliment to this excellent book.
