  Books Perl CD Bookshelf

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Very good reference, a lot of examples, easy to search
With the help of this CD I managed to master Perl in 4 months. (I was already a good shell and C programmer.) This CD covers everything from basics to advanced WWW programming. The weak point of this CD is the search engine. It is difficult to make run it on some Win95. There are some missing details in the advanced examples but with a little search it is easy to get around them.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Very thorough Perl reference set.
I have used hard-copies of the 'Learning Perl' and 'Programming Perl' before, but this CD set combines both of these excellent references as well as additional references when you want/need to expand your use of Perl. The hyperlinked indexes allow easy access to the information one needs. The 'nutshell' book is useful for reading/browsing when you're offline. I have heartily recommended this set to a number of Unix/Windows programmers at work. I hope O'Reilly continues to release reference sets like this in the future.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Singing praises for awsome book
This is the best Perl reference folks. Upon getting it I went from zero Perl programmer to intermediate one. It very easy to find what you are looking and just keep copying and pasting code into the code editor. The CD is replete with both references and excellent code samples. Comprare prego questo libro!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Assumes thorough knowledge of Unix - Also poor reference
I had purchased this book from Amazon hoping for a good reference, but they use many Unix terms that are not defined. Even Perl terms are poorly referenced- not very good if you are struggling to learn Perl on your own. I thought I would be able to find the information somewhere on a CD that is supposed to contain 6 books, but I was very disappointed and ended up using other reference books that weren't nearly as expensive.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The only perl reference purchase necessary!
I can't think of a better reference for Perl than this searchable wonderful collection of 6 books. Beginners, intermediate, and advanced users can greatly benefit from this purchase alone. If you prefer hard copies when researching a problem, you can print out sections too, so don't discount this just because it's in electronic format. This package just makes it easier to find what you want to have for hard copy.
