Rating: - Nicely captures the moods of the players and of the times.
This is a very nicely written book. what I especially liked was its choice of the details. The authors are able to choose and stress the important events and link them in a very meaningful and coherent way. Reader never looses the story inspite of its complexity and always feels involved. Great for non-techies and techies alike. Enjoy!
Rating: - Great Reading...!
I enjoyed reading this book, especially the section concening BBN's development team that created the IMP (Interface Message Processor). I also wish I could meet and talk to one of the software developers Will Crowthers. This book is excellent on reporting the hardware and software grut work it took to build and establish what is now known today as the internet. I would like to thank the authors for providing this information.
Rating: - Amazing- Things I didn't know about the company I work for!
What a story. Wonderful and illuminating. I now have greater appreciation and pride in the company I work for and admiraton for the real Wizards who pulled us all into the future.
The detail in this book is astounding. So many revelations. A great read.
Rating: - Boring
If you need something to help you fall asleep, this is the book for you. Boring and very dry.
Rating: - fascinating!
The book describes the APRANet and the development of the technology it uses (e.g., TCP, FTP, packets, IP, etc.) in great detail. It's a shame it leaves other networks of the time on the sideline. Nonetheless, it makes great reading if you are interested in the history of the Internet.
