Web sites are the backbone of the internet, but what many web surfers do not know is how hard it is to maintain these web sites. HTML can be cumbersome, especially when trying to change around a web site's layout and design. However, there is a better way. With the use of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) you can keep your content and your design/layout completely seperated. More info |

Last year Eric Meyer documented his thoughts on resetting the styles of a web page to a common baseline. For designers who crave pixel-perfect layouts, differences between the default styles that each browser applies can be infuriating, and this was a terrific approach to leveling the playing field in the quest for an identical render [...]<br style="clear: both;"/>

With the announcement late last year that IE8 passes the Acid2 test for CSS rendering (or will pass, when it’s released), the Web Standards Project have their sights set on the next phase of their mission to encourage browser-makers to provide a consistent experience for web users.
While the Acid2 test focussed on the static rendering [...]<br style="clear: both;"/>

So, last year you might remember me running through some experiments with using percentages to position your background-image in CSS. The short version: Percentages are slightly counter-intuitive but quite powerful — if it wasn’t for IE6-7 sucking by always minutely miscalculating them.
In the original post we stuck mostly to the more predictable and commonly-used percentages [...]<br style="clear: both;"/>

I guess most of us have understood for a long time that browsers rarely see eye to eye when it comes to calculating percentages, whether that be in element widths, element positioning or background placements. In fact, the background percentages post I did last year demonstrated it pretty clearly.
Thanks to JQuery guru John Resig, we [...]<br style="clear: both;"/>

Having recently announced the CSS Eleven initiative to provide designer feedback and input into the W3C’s CSS Working Group, Andy Clarke has responded to the Opera-Microsoft antitrust action by calling for the Group to be dissolved entirely and rebuilt without browser vendors in a controlling role.
He considers this necessary not only [...]<br style="clear: both;"/>

John Resig has posted a good summary (including demo code) for how one might implement cross-site XMLHttpRequest calls, a feature currently implemented by the beta 2 release of Firefox 3.
In a nutshell, there are two techniques that you can use to achieve your desired cross-site-request result: specifying a special access-control header for your content, or [...]<br style="clear: both;"/>
